Workspace Bucket

Each cloud network has a workspace S3 bucket in its AWS account and region. Clusters in the network share this bucket.

Find the bucket

Workspace buckets use this name:

text
lakesail-<connection-id>-<network-id>-ws

What it stores

FolderContents
catalogs/S3-backed table data
notebooks/Persisted notebook contents
scripts/Uploaded Python files, wheels, and requirements files
clusters/SQL job results

A folder appears after LakeSail first stores an object in it. Do not rename or move platform-managed objects; LakeSail resources reference their stored locations.

For S3-backed tables you keep in the workspace bucket, place the underlying data under catalogs/; see Copy Data to the Workspace Bucket. Data in another bucket can stay there instead; see Connect External S3 Data.

Lifecycle

The bucket belongs to the network, not a cluster. Destroying a cluster does not delete the bucket or its contents.

Destroying the network also retains the bucket and its contents in your AWS account. Delete the retained bucket in AWS when you no longer need its data.

For encryption and access controls, see Security & IAM.
